I'm a dizzy motherfucker. Literally. I don't spin this much on the rotating Metamorphosis box in the show.

And to top it all off? May is dancing in the middle of the living room, which means spinning in circles 'till she falls down. And I think Prom was chasing his tail a minute ago. Where's the barf bucket?

Still love my partner. Made her promise to let me burn the posture bar if we win, tho.

"Ah! Where did I put my...Carbone Karras, I gonna tan your hide you keep your hands OFF!!!"

"OW!!! Kee-rap, Mom..."

"See? This is why I ain't cookin'." Tommy declared with a nod, shooting a smile at his father and daughter as he took a sip of his beer before bending over to pick up the sock monkey she'd just dropped. "Careful, Bunny Girl."

"Hummy, Tata." she informed him, patting her belly.

"Yeah, we know. Dinner's comin' soon."

Content to go back to making her sock monkey flap his arms, Tommy caught sight of his father's smile. Aunt Zephyr and Carbone had flown in for Thanksgiving, which his mom and dad were hosting this year. He'd heard that Channing might be by, but he wasn't sure if she was coming. Zee was flitting between helping in the kitchen and sitting with May and him, trying to do a little bit of everything. It was Mayilia's first Thanksgiving, and really their first Thanksgiving as a family.

"So, you ever gonna marry that girl, Tom Tom? Or you gonna stay engaged your whole life?"

Tommy laughed, shrugging. "Hey, we can't agree on a first dance song for the reception. I'm havin' way too much fun planning this thing, and I'm kinda glad it's gotten bigger than we expected. Zee wanting it, I mean. Besides, she's busy as shit with the way the band's blown up, and I got fuckin' TV offers coming in now..."

"If you boys are talking business, I gonna put you out the door with your wife, little brother!!"

Gregory Karras rolled his eyes, leaning back in the sofa to look at his sister. "All apologies, dearest!!"

"Spoiled man...hmph!"

Tommy just laughed, shaking his head as he set his beer down and picked up Mayilia. "C'mere, Bunny...let's go see what Mommy's doing."
magic_fratboy: (casual - intense)
I told her, I freakin' told her: she's too goddamn uptight for this shit.

The straitjacket escape went okay, except for the fact that Chan didn't listen to me and nearly lost a leg in the cable holding her up. She twisted her ankle, but she'll be over that by Monday. It was weird, not being the one up there...but I'm really proud of her. She did good.

And now I get to take my baby trick or treating for the first time. She's dressing up as...well...ahem.

We don't call her May Bunny for nothing.
magic_fratboy: (zee - now i know that happiness goes on)
“You have interviews to do.”

“I have a house to babyproof!” Tommy laughed, reaching up to secure the cell phone more firmly between chin and shoulder before picking up his screwdriver again. “I did mention that my daughter’s walking now, right?”

“Yes. Three times.”

Grinning, he turned back to the task of fixing the baby gate his father had dropped off a little over an hour before, glancing up at Ziyah as he gestured for her to hand him one of the screws she was holding. “Look, George, I appreciate you throwing me a bone here and there--”

“Throwing you a bone?! Ha, yeah, that’s funny. Real cute, me helping you. Tommy, Chan didn’t sign me on to act as your press agent ‘cause I needed busy work, you son of a bitch. Right now, you’re the only one reporters want to talk to. I’m surprised she’s not more worried, quite frankly.”

“Tell that stupid PR suit to kiss your ass and finish with that gate, will you?” Ziyah huffed nearby, leaning over to catch Mayilia’s hand before she could wander past them and over to the garage door she kept trying to toddle through. “Bambina, I said no!”

“Oot, Mama!”

It was the wicked and wild wind, blew down the doors to let me in... )

Reason #47 why I love days off: finally got the chance to put the new Alice in Chains single on my iPod.

This shit's so good I can hardly stand it, and once again I find myself wishing Layne was around to sing it. I'm gonna see if Zee can work her contacts to get me an advance copy of the CD.

Now where the hell's my fiancee? For that matter, where the hell's my daughter and my animals?

...crap, gotta go. Zee just yelled: May's WALKING.

Your Risk Taking Level: Medium

What's life without a few risks?

You're willing to be daring when the time is right.

You know that there's no reward in life without risk.

You just always make sure that you look before you leap.

And I totally spaced out on my fatherly duties, been too busy getting settled in again. The day before we left New York May hit a huge milestone.

She stood up. My baby girl's on her way to becoming a walker.

We were at Bee's place and she used the dog to get to her feet. Turn my head and she's standing there with her hands on the puppy and fighting to stay up. She stood for a full minute before she had to plop down again, but since we got home it's all she wants to do. Thank God Prom is bigger than Irina and patient as the day is long, she's always crawling after him to do her little workout routine.

Zee says she's as obsessive as I am. I say she's as stubborn as her mother.

Anyway, I'm off to drive four hours to a town that has the jail cell I'll need for my latest stunt, then off to get eviscerated. I'll let you folks know how that turns out.

...seriously, I'm kidding. Late rehearsal, we're working on a new sawing in half illusion. Catch you guys later.

NOTE: Bee is [livejournal.com profile] deep_red_bells and Zee is [livejournal.com profile] zee_ali. Both are used without permission but lots of love. :P

“Wow…get a load! Bee, that’s--”

“Puh!”

“May, no…that’s just--”

“Puh! Puuuuuh, popo!”

“Mayilia…”

“PopopopPOOO!”

Wincing a little at the tiny shriek, Tommy flashed Baileigh an apologetic grin as he passed the snapshot to Zee and set May on the floor. She promptly, and only a bit clumsily, got onto her hands and knees and started crawling towards the massive German Shepherd that was laying about a foot away. )

May's starting to try and talk, and she's been a chatterbox since I got Zee back to Boney's place. I think she almost said 'uh oh' earlier, and she's trying to say 'picture' when she looks at Zee, but ain't getting further than 'poo.' I show her Zee's picture every night before bed, so I think she recognizes her.

Also got some good news, but I'm saving it for a post of its own, so...catch you all later.

He spits another piece of ice into the crimson-stained drain, mouth numb and still somehow burning with agony as he contemplates the sight of his own blood marring the sterile white of his kitchen sink, offset by the coffee-stained white of the tooth he lost in the earlier fight.

It’s wrong and it’s ghastly, but he’s not shocked by it. The piece of ice glitters like a diamond, catching the color of each stain as it slides and rattles almost cheerfully when it hits the surface and settles in to nestle in the little chrome sieve just above the pipe.

It stings…but it’s beautiful... )

You Are Cyclops

Dedicated and responsible, you will always remain loyal to your cause.

You are a commanding leader - after all, you can kill someone just by looking at them.

Power: force beams from your eyes

Okay, that's...uncomfortably close to home. Not sure I agree with the 'commanding' part, though.

In other news, my baby girl's a grown up. She's holding her head up, sitting up (with some help) and talking to me. Well, I talk, she coos at me, but still. She's getting prettier every day, too...only weird thing about her is the animals so far. Everything I read and heard said to keep them away from a kid as young as her? But they refuse to stay away, and they all get along great. Hell, Kel and Hardy watch her sometimes on the changing table. A paw on the belly or a tail to tug on keeps her from rolling around.

Work's okay...show's going well, only now Chan's got this crazy idea that I gotta actually be in the show. Go figure.

I officially keep the weirdest house on the goddamn planet.

Especially in my little girl. Though I gotta admit...I think May handled the shots better than I did.

Translation: just did the two-month check up before I head into work. May's in perfect health, and ahead of the curve developmentally. She's holding her head up real well, and growing like a damn weed. Her hand-eye coordination's really great, doc says her eyes and hearing are perfect and just to watch her in case she reacts to the shots...which, I might add, she handled like a pro. She barely whimpered. Like I said, I was a bigger wreck than she was.

She also stuck her tongue out at me. Twice. No shit, I had her out of her carrier in the waiting room and in the office, and twice she just let it hang out while I had her up in my arms. Guess she figured Daddy needed some cheering up.

Anyway, I'm at my parents', May's getting a magic show from her Pappou, and her Yiayai is trying to rush me out the door. I'm gonna be at the Mirage all day, work on the show and probably hanging around to bug a few people out. If you're around and available? C'mon down and see me, check the place out. You won't be sorry.

The soft pink teddy bear hovered in midair before the delighted infant’s features as Tommy held his daughter up and held the toy aloft with power alone, watching her try to reach for it.

“What’s that?” he asked, laughing as she squealed gleefully. “Is that a bear? Is that a buddy bear for May-May? I think it is a buddy bear for May-May…”

Finally relenting, Tommy let the toy drift close enough so that she could grasp its leg with one tiny hand and guided it into her grips until she had it in her lap, steady enough to tug on its ears contentedly.

“Pretty things for my pretty thing.” He cooed, kissing the top of her head as she concentrated all her attention on trying to destroy the sturdy little stuffed animal. “That’s your Valentine’s Day present. ‘Cause you’re my Valentine…yeah, you are!”

She paused just long enough to smile up at him, then turned back to pulling and finally chewing on the bear’s right ear.

Steadying her in his lap with one hand, Tommy reached out to the table beside the couch and picked up the second gift... )

The power outage a couple hours before had forced him to bring out the candles, but even after the lights came back on, he left the melted stubs out for the baby.

With the lights out and three candles burning on the coffee table, not much more than stubs of wax cradling flickering tongues of flame, Tommy sat on the floor in front of the sofa with Mayilia cradled back against his chest so she could watch the fire dance. He was as entranced with her as she was with the fire, fascinated by the movement of her eyes and the way she worked her tiny mouth open and shut, as if she was trying to comment on the incomprehensible display before her.

“Is it pretty?” he asked her softly, reaching up to gently stroke the downy thatch of dark hair that was coming in thick and straight. He had no doubt it would take on the same wave both he and Zee had, soon as it grew longer…

She turned her head and tried to look up at him when he spoke. His heart clenched, watching her respond to his voice…knowing him, answering him in her own way. He was so impatient to know what she was saying, eager for the day when she’d become more than a vision of her mother, but an actual little person with opinions to express and thoughts of her own.

Grinning, he pointed at the candles and watched her. “What’s that? Is it pretty? You see the pretty fire?”

Flashing her baby smile at him, she turned back to the candles and cooed, lifting one arm and waving at them. One day she would point, one day she would be able to tell him.

Extending a hand, he turned to focus on the candles and smiled as he lifted his arm, calling to the fire as he did. The candles flared, rising to the call of power as the tongues grew and split, leaving three on the wicks and three floating above them, rising higher and moving as Tommy moved his hand. This way, that, they danced in midair as Mayilia rested her head back against his chest and tried to look up high, fascinated by the display.

In the darkness of his living room, Tommy turned three tongues of flame into dozens and made them fly. With little more than a thought, he made magic for his infant daughter and watched her marvel at the simple majesty of fire, and the greater feat of the power that was her birthright.

He gave her magic, and as she smiled and laughed, she gave that magic right back to him.

More memeage... )

One day I'll do something besides big-ass memes and bitching about my life, I swear. Until then...yeah.

I'm still not sleeping, and I can only thank God May's such a little angel. She was a mess for a while, as most babies are, but she's been sleeping through the night for the last two weeks. She hardly ever cries, 'less I keep the animals away from her. She's real interested in the new puppy, and he loves her. Hell, the cats are her personal guard. When she naps afternoons, Hardy sleeps on her bureau and Kel climbs in her crib. He don't shed hardly at all, thank God, but don't tell my mother I let him sleep with her, she'll shit.

I'd forgotten how much I missed this city...and Zee's everywhere I go. She's in everything.

It's killing me inside.

“I went looking for a fight.”

“What the…Jesus, T-Bird…”

Tommy simply shrugged in response to his cousin’s exasperation, wincing as Carbone blotted the laceration on his forehead with an alcohol swab. He welcomed the lingering burn, the acid bite of sterilization beneath the skin…he was looking for pain, for something, anything to hurt him. Anything to help him ease the knot in his gut that he couldn’t let go of.

“I needed something to hurt, Bone. Something safe…something that’d hit back.”

“Getting yer ass kicked ain’t gonna help you grieve for her, man.”

“It might.”

“Whatever, idiot stick…just bear in mind that *she* was waiting up for ya.” )

“Do you have any fuckin' idea how ridiculous that is?”

Elpis merely smiled, wearing the old skin of Dog Carter as he set the little teddy bear holding a golden apple in Mayilia's crib. He looked just like the man Tommy knew, jeans and a tank top, twin barbells gracing one eyebrow. Yet...Tommy knew it wasn't his comrade in arms, not anymore.

“Keep that in her crib, and she'll never need a doctor. The old saw holds truth, especially when the golden apples of immortality give their blessings to the young.” he quipped in response.

“But she's not...”

“It's a talisman, nothing more. She'll stay healthy as you please, but she's as mortal as you are.”

Tommy hated himself for being instantly comforted as he reached in and rubbed his little girl's stomach, watching as she reached out to grab at the new toy in front of her. He already knew she was an avatar like he was, but if she turned out to be an Immortal as well...if that was even possible...the idea frightened him.

It hit without warning as Mayilia began to whimper in her crib, then wail mightily... )
