Alternatively, ask a character a question, any question, and they HAVE to answer completely honestly. Have to. It's the meme rule. Even if they'd normally lie, they suddenly have been hit with a truth serum of some kind and must tell the truth.

I don't know, truthfully. I remember my past lives, give or take a few things, but I have no recollection of the afterlife. I have this impression of time, a lot of it between being born and dying, but that's it. Only thing I'm sure of is that there is an afterlife...and I think Hades is kind of a dick.

No, not really. I mean, I know it's there and I even know how it works. I just couldn't tell you what I did when I was there. I only know how it all happens...judgment, rebirth, the eternal rest thing I've never done, though.

Something like that. Every soul that's reborn has to drink from the Cup of Lethe, even gods. It wipes away memory...that's why reincarnated souls don't remember stuff, at least not right away. Human minds have to be empty to survive the fires of rebirth, otherwise the soul's torn apart. Happened to my wife, Bess.

Sort of. She didn't drink from the Cup of Lethe, so her soul didn't survive. What's left of it was reborn into my boss, Channing Vale. She's not like me, Bess ain't alive in her, but she does still have her memories and feelings.

So it's... more a case of her remembering being Bess in the past, as opposed to still being her now?

Is it a comfort, having that much? Or is it hard to know only some of her survived?
