[rp] Sliping out of the party...
He was wiped out after the whole thing was over, but the important thing was that the whole goddamn thing was over.
He'd made it.
"Howzabout another round of karaoke, bro?"
Tommy rolled his eyes at Ben, flipping him off as he finished the last of his beer. "Man, I ain't doing that again for the rest of my fuckin' life. Make Jay and Mike sing with Lola, I'm gonna go take a leak."
"Real attractive, loser."
"In your eye, don't mock the mark." Tommy grinned, shoving his left wrist under Ben's nose for the umpteenth time to proudly brandish the small set of handcuffs that were now tattooed there...mystically, sure, but still there nonetheless to symbolize his permanent link to the order.
Setting his bottle down on the table, Tommy headed for the bathroom in the club and relieved himself, then caught the time when he was washing his hands and realized how late it was. Damn it, he'd promised to let the girls know...
After a little magic made to send word to Lauren, Baileigh, and Sophie, Tommy slipped out of the magician's club and onto the street, rummaging through his cell phone for the address to Sassy's place...right there, as promised. He wasn't sure she was there, but it was a link to her all the same.
Being a full member of the Fraternity meant he was completely unrestricted in using his power as he saw fit. Still riding an adrenaline high, he made a bit of a production of it and walked about a block away, turning the corner with a small use of power...
...and instead of walking into a young girl's bedroom, where he expected to be by focusing on Sassy, he found himself in a slightly hairier situation. And, from the looks of it, she was in equally dire straights. Jesus, what was wrong with those dudes faces?...
Blanching as he watched Sassy stake one, then watched it explode, he couldn't decide whether to help or leave her to it.
"Yo, Sass!!"
He'd made it.

"Just take it easy, you'll--oof!" he replied, cut off with a grunt as she flung her arms around him and hugged. Tight. Very tight. Dimly, he remembered Baileigh mentioning Slayer strength, this was obviously the stuff right here.
Still, he smiled and hugged her back gently but warmly, dropping a friendly kiss against her temple. "Got a little tricky, but yeah, I'm just fine. You don't have to worry, I'm okay...Sass? The squeezing, can you...just a little, just a tiny bit less hard..."
no subject
As if to reassure herself, because you never knew -- boys are tricky, she reached up and brushed her fingertips across his temples. "You don't have to do that again, right?? All death defying stunts where you could die from a bullet to the brain are over right? Please?"
no subject
At her look, he grinned and leaned over to kiss her forehead in a friendly manner. "But I won't. Promise. I'm just...really not a fan of willingly getting shot at. So you don't gotta worry, only bullets I'll be catching from now on belong to bad guys, okay?"
no subject
"Does that make you a fan of unwillingly getting shot at then?" Oh darn, her stake was still on the ground. She looked at it for a second and then decided to leave it, there was no way her ribs were letting her bend down again to get it. "Are you sure you didn't get shot? 'cause that's stupid and I'd rather blame it on brain damage than the idea that you think that's actually funny."
She wanted to cross her arms, but the ow factor kept her from doing that so she just frowned harder.

Trailing off, Tommy's smile slowly vanished as he felt it. The coldness, the pain coiling low in his belly where the power lived inside of him. He knew that touch of black magic, and now that he was fully initiated he could feel a difference in his control. The others had been right: it did get easier once it was fully accepted.
"Hang on a sec..." he muttered, laying a hand on her shoulder and closing his eyes for a moment. He just needed to sense it...if he could feel it, he could hurt it, if not kill it...
And he couldn't do either. Either it was hiding too well, or it wasn't actually in the cemetery.
"C'mon, let's get you home." he murmured, wrapping an arm around her shoulders to urge her along. "Before I have to end up showing you."
no subject
She looked up at him curiously, tugging her bottom lip between her teeth as she followed his lead and started moving out of the cemetery. She could still taste the dried blood and she wrinkled her nose. "Showing me what?"

Stopping dead in his tracks, Tommy ran through at least three different tricks in his mind before he raised a hand behind him and caught the knife before it could sink between his shoulderblades. Bullet catch, knife catch...it was all the same shit.
With a hard look, he brought the knife forward, flipping it with an expert grip that felt somewhat alien. He hadn't had much practice with knives, but maybe it was just part of the power...
"Showing you that sometimes getting bullets or knives thrown at me ain't always a choice." he sighed, gesturing for her to wait a second as he turned on his heel and shut his eyes, focusing...
A moment later, he drew back with one arm and flung the knife back into the darkness. A heartbeat later, they both heard a distant, sickening scream.
Turning back to face her, he manged a small smile. "C'mon, let's get outta here before that thing gets back on its feet. We got a good twenty minutes, it'll lose us by then."

And... "Since when do you throw knives? That's like my thing!"
