[charloft](FRI) Last Will and Testament
Contents of an early draft of the last will and testament of Tommy Karras, located on his desk at home...
I, Thomas Gregory Karras, being of sound mind and body, do bequeath the following to my friends, family, and loved ones as follows:
- To my daughter, Mayilia Alessa Ambrogio-Karras, I leave behind all of my assets, financial and otherwise. If she is underage at the time of my death, I entrust the same to her guardian to provide for her care and education until she is eighteen.
To that end, as my last act I appoint Sassafras Chastity Talulabelle Lally as Mayilia’s legal guardian. Should she be deceased, I name my parents, Gregory and Agatha Karras as secondary guardians. Should they be deceased, I appoint Salvatore Vieri and Channing Vale as her primary guardians, and name Vittore Ambrogio as her secondary guardian and executor of my estate, responsible for overseeing her business affairs until she is of age.
With regards to the disposition of my personal effects and items of value, I authorize the disbursement of the following:
- To Baileigh Solis, I leave my collected library and my screaming skull ring. I know you love to read, and there’s at least a few things in my library that ain’t on magic. Still, I hope you try to read them all…’try’ being the operative word here. You’re a seeker by nature, always searching for something, and it’s my hope that maybe in the knowledge I’ve collected you might find something truly special. Just like I did. My best friend gave me the ring, and you’re one of my best friends…consider it a token of my affection and being that it’s sterling silver? Let its value symbolize the priceless value that our relationship will always have to me.
- To Cain Callahan, I leave my tae kwon do belts and my silver cross. Respect the belts as they deserve, and do like the inscription on the cross says: Believe. Never stop.
- To Lauren Order, I leave my car to do with as she sees fit. Consider it a keepsake of our first date…I still remember the wiseass remarks about that stripe my buddies keyed into the paint. Let it remind you that our paths crossed for a reason: you helped me find the strength I needed to serve the world well, and I hope I helped you find the path that led you to the happy ending you deserve. Never lose your smile, Laur. The world would be a darker place without it.
- To Henrietta Callahan, I leave my Fender Stratocaster and self-transcribed tablature to “Them Bones” by Alice in Chains. It was my favorite song, the only one I ever learned to play. Do it justice when you become a rock star, babe.
- To Sassafras Lally, I leave behind full custody and guardianship of my cats, Hardeen and Kel, as well as my dog Prometheus. I also leave to her my duplicate Fraternity talisman. Wear it with pride, because the truth of the matter is that you were always one of us. You always will be. Hope’s faces burn in you like fire…love, faith, and justice together. If I died a natural death, know that I will be back again someday…and if I did not, know that you are my legacy, and it’s a legacy I’m proud of.
- To the head of the Fraternal Order of Ledgermain, also known to some as the Fraternity of Light, I leave behind my collection of Houdini memorabilia on the grounds that instructions left in the enclosed letter are followed in detail. Should these terms not be met, the collection will go to the Smithsonian, the Academy of Magical Arts, the Society of American Magicians, and other organizations.
- Finally, to my dearest friends Benjamin Crawford, Jeremy Kellar, Michael Kellar, Theodora Panagopolous, Dimitra Panagopolous, Martin Mackenroy, and Channing Vale, I leave behind my art in all its forms, specifically the materials pertaining to my magic act. All paintings and sketches may be dispersed and sold as seen fit, but release of my act is conditional upon its secrecy. You and you alone will know what I have put together and what I have not. It is my wish that if you do not use these materials and technologies for yourself, that you leave them unreleased to the public. If my loved ones can’t benefit from my work, my work will remain anonymous.
